Who are you, ENCI?

Magic or just genetics?

I present my name is Anna Flora Cuoco, a Salerno woman and I am a magician. In addition to my magical dowry, which I will tell you, I want to tell you the whole story and evolution of MY "magic."

Our first white boxer arrived in 1998 (he had 30 days) his breeder was going to suppress him, because according to him he was sick (i.e. albino). My family and I expected the puppy to show the characteristics of being albino, we ready to take the situation in our hands and look after it as best we could, but it showed no symptoms. We understood then, although we were neither veterinarians nor breeders, that white was only the color of his mantle and that the puppy was as healthy as the other playbookers that had preceded him in my family. They passed 14 years and the dog believed "albino" had no problem related to his alleged illness. In 2012 he left us.

Sensitive to the question of "white boxer" we decided to take a white boxer from a breeding in Pontedera that fights for the rights of such boxers. Unlike 14 years ago the white boxer, now in many Italian cities, is no longer killed, this is the most suitable word because they are precisely of the murderers. Despite the entry of the white boxer into the standard and the possibility of having pedigree, there is another type of discrimination that appears in the eyes of all: "prohibited reproduction". Yes, fortunately now they are no longer killed because the sick riddants, it has been given a heart even to the most fierce breeders, at least hopefully; but a puppy that is born with this mantle now has changed label from "sick" to "bearer of genetic diseases" that, according to some, could cause the extinction of the race. Strange eh? All this destructive power to a color? If it is a problem of color, then also the puppies of other breeds that are born with the white mantle should also be their "ports of all the race"?

I am not an expert in biology or genetics but I do not need a degree to understand that the "prohibited reproduction" is entirely illegitimate. The color of the mantle depends on the genes that is the hereditary unity of living organisms. Even our colors are only genes, it is not said that those born with red hair and light skin are more bearer of genetic diseases than those born with hair and dark skin, at this time, if it were so simple, the Irish population should not exist anymore. After the experience vissute with my first boxer, which was to be killed on the basis of false beliefs, I considered unfair that "prohibited reproduction" and I admit it violated it and to the third heat I made pair my boxer.

Here's the magic! The puppies are healthy, are not blind and not deaf. They were born seven adorable playboys with delicious white spots on the mantle. Strange? I would like to point out for the most skeptical that they were not hidden by the white mantle, indeed we hoped they were born! I know that my puppy is not a carrier of diseases but only the white mantle, as the parent "Blanka." Hard to change our beliefs? Hard to eliminate that filter that forbids us to see reality behind a rule? Hard not to extend our racism even to animals? White boxer may or not like it but this doesn't mean that we must label it as a carrier of diseases.

Our Comment

We wanted to let this letter speak in the simplicity of his reasonings. Simplicity is a particularly appreciated feature in scientific theories: a theory must not be so abstruse, to overcome in complexity the phenomenon, which he wants to explain. But for that category of scientists, which was selected in the discussions of the boxerist forums, nothing is ever sufficiently complicated.

This is certainly not the way to give these little considerations: a question as epochal as the reproduction of the white boxer cannot be decided by common sense alone, nor is it sufficient to observe and advance intelligent insights, it is necessary to be more demanding.

So if white boxers are worthy of reproduction, it will be possible to decide only after a large-scale experiment, conducted on at least 5000 white subjects tested in clinic for each type of pathology, the test pairs, followed by esteemed geneticists, will be studied for the emergence of all kinds of tara, up to the fifth generation. Pretesae that contrast lively with the methods far more to the good when the breeding animals are fulvi or tigrati. No matter if this request is so unrealistic and anti-economic that it can never be realized: better so for the detractors of the white boxer per party taken, that they will not have to adapt to a sgradile novelty, having to justify being grossly mistaken.

Even more serious is the attitude of the ENCI, which complicates or simplifies, according to what suits him, that. like the Pharisee of the Gospel. filters the fly, but swallows the camel. It is inexplicable that pedigree is denied to puppies of high genealogy, with perfect coloring and fashion, more in standards of white parents (to whom instead it is released), of found typicality and good health.

But if the breeder were sufficiently casual to use any pedigree of a Fulvo or Tiger Boxer, instead of the white parent's, he could easily enter the litter and no one would object to anything. The ENCI, as is known, does not do any kind of litter control: probably these subjects presented in some official manifestation would also take the excellent.

Who are you ENCI? Who are you ENCI to decide that puppies like these should be rejected pedigree, since they decline the responsibility to regulate cynophilia and ensure the correctness of its operators, indirectly encouraging and endorsing dirty practices? We give the answer: the ENCI is an entity, which manages the Book of Origins irresponsiblely and for which the only indispensable requirement seems to be color.
