White Boxer
White boxer in reproduction: superstitions and science
Translated from the Italian original.
The breeders are those who, with method, dedication and extro, are able to build their own lines of blood in which to give life to their ideal of boxers. The breeding is a.alchemy in which art merges with science. Generally the breeder matures and consolidates his knowledge in a purely practical approach. Some and in increasing numbers, make themselves capable of accompanying the experience with what is made available by scientific research.
In recent years, genetics has made considerable progress and a large number of studies on dogs are now available. Aimè is to be noted that although the internet allows easy access to information, a fringe of Italian boxer culture appears pervaded by a latent reluctance to change.
These days we talk about the possibility of introducing white boxers into breeding programs. Although some northern European nations have already successfully made this step, in Italy the uncertainty dictated by the possible change is back to give voice to some popular beliefs that white boxers would transmit to offspring who knows what to do. What made available by the Boxer Club Norwegian clear that the choice to accept whites in breeding was not dictated by an emotional animalist thrust but takes the lead from scientific studies. Working with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Pisa, I had the pleasure of comparing myself on the topic and the conclusions are absolutely coincident.
The last twenty years of Italian boxerism have been marked by changes that have involved everyone, by simple enthusiasts up to the most eximid professionals. In the past white boxers were discredited as errors of selection to the point of denying them existence. Only since 2005 when the first pedigree was obtained, the Whites began to spread by shaking the beliefs of those who thought them to be bad and condemned to a short life of hardship. In the same period the boxers amputated began to leave their place to the boxers intact, demonstrating that the accidents with tails and ears are minimal compared to what was feared before the prohibitions of caudectocmia and conchectomy were imposed. In both cases, I can feel a precursor: those who have memory will remember Italy of Casa Bartolini, the first white boxer enrolled in the Italian genealogical book, and Leonardo di Casa Bartolini, born in 2000 was the first integrated Italian boxer to limestone the ring.
Today the story is partly repeated. The legends told by some, luckily sparti and that 13,7 have never seen a litter born of a white boxer, bring back to my mind the spurts of a time: Whites must be eliminated immediately because they are albinos and growing up they would suffer., tails break because the boxer is restless., long ears carry only otites., rather than leaving the boxers intact, I will stop raising. etc. etc.
The invitation I feel to make to those who are not yet convinced to put white people back into reproduction is to give valid reasons for the discussion or, otherwise, to give space to those who have experience in this matter.
From my point of view, Whites are an integral part of the raceTheir rehabilitation in the livestock sector is only a matter of time, and it will happen sooner or later.
Finally, I would like to recall the words of a great woman who raised and had the white Boxers reproduced and known for being the mother of our race. In 1932, Friederun Stockmann, who found himself fighting against the previous ban on reproduction of white boxers, expressed himself in Boxer-Bätter magazine: The typicality and a healthy construction are much more important than the color.. The problems of the race to be fought are others such as heart disease, dysplasia, etc. and certainly not the fact that a puppy is the child of a white parent.
