White Boxer

Letter from the President on the White Boxer: "Ignorance never ends"

Translated from the Italian original.

These days I was pointed out an article entitled "The White Boxer. But what do you really know about the white boxer"? Probably Mrs. Baravelli, author of the writing, knows very little or maybe pretends not to know. The first thing that surprised me was this: "As you will have already understood from the title I am referring to the fact that thanks to the lack of information. the targeted actions of some "stealers" cause not little general confusion on the subject" Perhaps this is the only thing I agree with Mrs Baravelli, because she has for years said that the white boxer is not born or that you can easily control its birth and that in any case if you decide to leave it alive, it is always better that it does not have a pedigree.

Going forward in this formable and educational reading you arrive at the FCI and pedigree argument with the words, forbidden reproduction: "In Italy since 2005 it is possible to enroll it in the genealogical book, but as in all other countries (for the FCI's disposal) the white boxer pedigree contains a very evident stamp that bears the phrase "prohibited reproduction."

At this point I begin to believe that Mrs Baravelli, has seen few pedigrees of white boxers born in other countries. Because if she had the pleasure to see them, she would know for sure that in some countries, recognized by the FCI, the white boxer, if deserving from a morphological and character point of view, is used in reproduction and on their genealogical certificates, there is no restriction. In addition she should know that there are certain breeds whose standard only and exclusively provides for certain colors, but it is precisely in Italy that a normal pedigree is released without restrictions even when the color of the mantle is not covered by the standard. Consequently, in Italy, such discrimination is made only for the white boxer.

Another very nice point is this: "It is therefore right that people should know that it is not a matter of preferences or discrimination from a purely aesthetic point of view, understood as "I like it or I don't like it," but it is appropriate to ask a logical question: Do white boxers have an affective value? Well yes! Do they have a commercial value? NO."

At this point I wonder how furbi, those who buy a pet of playful boxer or tiger at 1200 euros, sure they have a future champion, because convinced by the breeder and who at the same time ask for free a white puppy, because they read some nonsense around.

A breeder, if serious, devotes the same attention to all the puppies of his breeding, takes care of the mother before, during and after the birth, intervenes with the veterinary expenses if necessary, vuccina, deverminates them, weans them, forwards the practices for the genealogical certificates and devotes the time and the right attentions. All this naturally has a cost, that the future owner must recognize to the breeder. Because if we must start from the assumption that a white puppy has only an affective value, then how should those puppies with important or monorchid or out of standard pathologies for any reason? Every puppy has its indisputable affective value, and this is demonstrated by the fact, that the majority of puppies boxers, is purchased by privates who will keep them in the family and who will not frequent exhibitions. So it is also right to recognize the economic value of a white boxer, since who raised it, has not made distinctions with his colored brothers.

Another very interesting point is the one related to why the white boxer is excluded from the standard. Mrs Baravelli, she forgot to specify, that the exclusion of white subjects, was established during the Second World War and that the boxer was a dog used by the German army. Therefore the white subjects could not be used because more visible than the playful or tiger. While for the black colouration the speech is completely different, because in the selection was inserted the schnautzer. In addition it must be emphasized how, even the great German breeders, recognized those specimens with particularly accentuated white, excellent morphological characteristics. White is a fundamental heritage in the boxer, since it is born with this 285th breed, so to marginalize and denigrate it, it means to wound the race itself.

I would like to conclude with this last quote: "Surely the SFTs of the whole boxer (tail and ears intact) will immediately replicate that it is not included in the Standard even the boxer amputated, but a big difference there is! in fact it is the FCI (International Cynology Federation) that with an ad hoc regulation allows the breeder resident in a country not prohibitionist not to apply the Standard in this specific case, but only in this case!"

I would like to point out to Mrs Baravelli that over the years many things have changed in the breed standard and in the breeding of the boxer, so that it continues to be nostalgic, it is no use. The standard of the boxer says clearly tail and ears intact since 2000, so that those who continue to look back without realizing the changes, would do better to give up the breeding of the breed of the boxer dog.
